The 5-Island Day, from Hvar Itself

Everyone on the quay at Split is sailing an hour just to reach where you already are. The 5-island day from Hvar starts closer to everything it visits - the Blue Cave on Biševo, the Green Cave, Stiniva's cliff gap, the Pakleni lagoons - which buys you a later start and more time in the water. The featured speedboat day runs it at 4.8/5 across 904 bookings, $121, free cancellation. Cave entry (€24 high season) is a separate on-site ticket on every tour - we say so up front.

How the Day Works from Hvar

Four steps, fee truth included.

  1. Start from the Right Island

Hvar departures leave around 10:15 and still reach Biševo inside the cave's late-morning light window - the geographic head start Split boats spend an hour of sailing to close.

  2. Know the Fee Truth

The Blue Cave ticket (€24 high season, €18 shoulder) is sold at the cave by its operator and is not in any tour price. Crews collect it in cash on board - budget it and nothing about the day surprises you.

  3. Respect the Sea

Speedboat days are weather days: a southerly swell can close the cave and reroute the itinerary. Every listing here carries free cancellation to 24 hours - the honest hedge.

  4. Swim More, Sail Less

The shorter legs from Hvar buy real water time - Stiniva's gap, the Green Cave's spotlight, the Pakleni shallows. That, not the boat, is what you're buying.

Yes - the famous 5-island day runs from Hvar too, and if you’re already on the island it is the obviously better door: the boats from Split spend their first hour crossing the channel to roughly where your morning coffee is. Google’s own question box asks “Is there a 5-island tour available from Hvar?” often enough that we built this site to answer it properly.

The featured day - Blue Cave, Green Cave & 5 Islands by speedboat, 4.8/5 across 904 bookings, $121 - leaves Hvar Town around 10:15 and still makes Biševo inside the cave’s late-morning light window, because the sailing legs are that much shorter. What follows is the Adriatic’s best single-day sequence: the electric-blue chamber, the Green Cave’s ceiling spotlight, Stiniva’s cliff-gap cove on Vis, the Pakleni shallows on the way home. The full route logic - including the honest seasickness paragraph - lives one click deeper.

Two truths every listing should state and mostly doesn’t. First, the Blue Cave ticket (€24 high season / €18 shoulder, set by the cave’s operator) is never inside the tour price; crews collect it aboard, usually in cash. Second, the cave is a 1 April – 31 October operation whose best color happens roughly 10:30–1:00 - book mornings, not afternoons. Both facts, sourced and dated, are in the fee and timing guides.

Choosing a format: the comparison below sets the classic speedboat against the Vis-focused day (4.8/5 across 837) and the private boats ($1,100–1,300 per group - honest math only for parties of five-plus). Day-trippers based in Split instead of Hvar should read the departure-point comparison - or fiveislandtoursplit.com, which covers the Split-departure version of this exact day in depth. And travelers whose real question is caves-versus- swimming should see the Blue Lagoon page: different trip, different answer, honestly compared.

What Our Guests Say

4.8/5 from 904 verified guests

"We left the harbor of Hvar on time and returned on time as well. Our guide was amazing. He gave us lots of tips and explained the attractions in detail. The Blue Lagoon really is perfect. We didn't visit the green lagoon because, according to our guide, it wouldn't be worth it. Later, when the guards left, we were lucky enough to get in. It really wouldn't be worth paying 15 euros for that. The beaches are wonderful. The diving gear is also very good."

"It was great! We got to see many caves, the pakleni islands, however some spots were too short of a swim but totally understandable given how many islands we were covering! Overall highly recommend"

"The day with our guide (Shala) was really wonderful. The tour itself was very varied. We had enough time for swimming, snorkeling and eating, and we also saw many beautiful places around Hvar and Vis. Our guide gave us great insider tips and information about the places we visited. The highlight was the Blue Cave and a really good lunch in Komiza (thanks to our guide's recommendation). The day and the timing were just perfect. The ride on the boat was also comfortable and had a good vibe thanks to the good selection of music. We had a good time. The price plus the entrance fee to the Blue Cave is not exactly cheap, but the tour has a lot to offer."

"Excellent. On arrival, the captain seemed to be in a bad mood. Not at all. He and the tour guide were absolutely wonderful. Two great guys."
